Completed in 1730, as part of a series Bach completed in his role as Director of the Collegium Musicum. It was well received by audiences and critics at the time of its debut. The piece would go on to be featured in many different areas of Pop Culture.

Written around 1730, with the assistance from C. P. E. Bach who wrote the trumpet, oboe, and timpani parts, and Johann Ludwig Krebs who wrote the second violin and viola parts.
